De-Stress Workshop

Finding Your Personal Garden

Audience:  Women of all ages
Objective: Finding a guiltless way to enjoy a free activity that reduces your stress.
Benefits:

  • Stress Reduction
  • Better motivated to help others
  • Increased productivity and self-fulfillment

Length of workshop:  1-1 ½ hrs

Feeling tapped out? Frazzled to the core?  Research shows that 80% of Americans are stressed out.  According to a survey conducted by the National Consumer League, one of the top six stressors is having no time for yourself. (The other five stressors are:  commuting, bills, lack of sleep, commitment overload, and job burnout.)

No one is going to give you the time; you have to make it happen. And when you do, your stress immediately reduces. This interactive workshop shows you how by identifying a three-step process.

When was the last time you did something for yourself, like find 15 minutes to meditate, or read a book, or take a walk?

Maryellen Gor, personal lifestyle coach, author and speaker, calls it “Finding Your Personal Garden”; that 15 minutes of time during your day that replenishes your spirit and vitality so you can show up more motivated to helping others.

Many of us lead busy lives today; filled with people making demands on our time and the numerous tasks we are asked to perform.  Buried in all of this are certain needs we have. If we listened to ourselves and scheduled time to address those needs, we would lessen the stress in our lives.

What usually happens, though, is that we bury those needs at the bottom of our “to do” list and then we never really get to them. We forget about ourselves. And yet, if we did make time for our own needs, it would make us calmer, less stressed, and better able to attend to the needs of others.

In addition, this workshop will also identify the two obstacles (“I don’t have the time” and “I don’t want to be perceived as selfish”) that get in the way of finding the time for yourself.

By finding 15 minutes in your day, every day, you can begin to reap the rewards of showing up more refreshed, better able and more willing to take care of others.
